As a career banker, Mr Hesslink is passionate about helping business owners prosper through providing access to capital and partnering with them to strategically help grow their businesses.
Prior to forming The Business Bank, Mr. Hesslink had served as the President, Chief Executive Officer, and a Director for Merchants Bank and its holding company, Merchants Bancshares, Inc. which were headquartered in South Burlington, Vermont. He started his employment with Merchants Bank in 1995 and served many roles prior to acquisition of Merchants Bancshares, Inc by Community Bank Systems, Inc. in May 2017.

Director Bissonette is the owner of Bissonette Properties, a family owned and operated real estate investment and property management company serving Chittenden County, including the Old North End and University of Vermont neighborhoods. He is also the co-owner of Al’s French Frys with his son Shane, an iconic Burlington-area burger and fries restaurant that has been in the community since the 1940’s. He brings business and management experience, industry experience, leadership experience, customer-based experience, and strategic planning experience to the Board of Directors.
Director Blazewicz is the Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel and Secretary of Coty Inc. (“Coty”) (NYSE: COTY) (Euronext: COTY), one of the world’s largest beauty companies. She is responsible for overseeing the Coty’s legal and compliance affairs worldwide. She brings extensive management and leadership experience, legal knowledge, and governance expertise to the Board of Directors.
Director Glynn is Deputy General Counsel for Rutland Regional Medical Center (RRMC), the second largest medical center in Vermont. Prior to joining RRMC, she was a managing partner at Ryan, Smith & Carbine, Ltd. In her practice, she represented financial institutions in commercial loan transactions, commercial loan workouts, restructuring, foreclosures, creditors’ rights, in and out of bankruptcy court. Her broad professional experience representing business clients (for profit and not for profit), in a variety of industries in Vermont and the region provides sound professional judgment and depth to our Board.
Director Hesslink serves as the Bank’s Board Chair and Chief Executive Officer. He brings experience in business management, finance and accounting, banking industry knowledge, customer service, crisis response, leadership, strategic planning, credit underwriting and risk management to the Board.
Director Larkin is a principal and President of Larkin Realty headquartered in Burlington, Vermont, a residential and commercial real estate firm. Mr. Larkin previously served as a director of Merchants Bank and Merchants Bancshares, Inc. He brings credit and risk management experience, banking industry knowledge, industry experience, strategic planning experience, leadership experience and bank governance experience to the Board of Directors.
Director Lisman served as Chairman of Global Equities Division of JP Morgan Chase and Company before retiring in 2009. Prior to this position, Mr. Lisman served as the Chief Executive Officer of Institutional Equities of Bear Stearns and Company. Mr. Lisman served as director of Merchants Bank and its Parent Company, Merchants Bancshares, Inc., based in Burlington, for over ten years. Mr. Lisman brings finance industry experience, leadership and director experience, bank governance experience, and strategic planning experience to the Board of Directors.
Director Lynn is the President of Lynn, Lynn, Blackman & Toohey, P.C., a law firm located in Burlington, Vermont. He is one of Vermont’s most experienced trial lawyers, and he works closely with local organizations, providing advice and counsel around a variety of legal and communications issues. Mr. Lynn brings business and management experience, legal judgment, leadership experience, customer-based experience, and strategic planning experience to the Board of Directors.
Director Ode is President and Chief Operating Officer of Champlain Investment Partners. Mr. Ode brings a finance and accounting background, business and management experience, and strategic planning experience to the Board of Directors.
Director Tarrant has founded and invested in many different companies, including co-founding Amicus Healthcare Living Centers, Inc., co-founding MyWebGrocer, co-founding SOOS, LLC., and is a partner in Stratton Aviation, LLC. Mr. Tarrant brings vast business and management experience, leadership, customer-based experience, strategic planning experience and deep community connections to the Board of Directors.
